Your Car Care Checklist

Caring for your car and keeping it in proper condition takes a little bit of effort, but for all problems you no need to get assistance from a professional. By knowing the basics about what your car needs, and when you should perform routine car maintenance, you can keep the car in a great way.

To maximize the life and performance of your vehicle, here is a few list of items you should check depending on the time and season. Some parts of your vehicle should be checked regularly, and others only in the long run. Follow your vehicle’s maintenance schedule and service interval record.

Oil and Coolant Levels

Before long road trips or once a month, it’s good to get under the hood of your car and check oil and coolant levels while the engine is cool. Low level of coolant can lead to engine failure. If left unchecked, both you and your vehicle will be under problem.

Air Filter

The engine’s air filter is the major key component that regulates the air and flows into the engine, this will keep the dirt and debris out. If your air filter is flowing properly, you can improve your fuel efficiency, decrease your emissions, and ensure the life of your engine. Check your owner’s manual for instructions and how often it needs to be changed.

Tyre Pressure and Tread Depth

Check the pressure in your tires every month and before a long ride or carrying extra load. A well-maintained tyre is integral to a safe, fuel-efficient ride, and gives a habit of checking the tyres often. A tyre pressure gauge is needed to check your tyre pressure. Know how much pressure is needed for your tire and check your tread depth using a gauge.

Lights

It’s good to check the working condition of the lights on your car. Turn on your headlights when you park in front of a flat surface and check that both headlights are working properly and well-positioned. Inspect both turn signals and your parking lights are good.

Oil & Filter

The oil lubricates the moving parts, acts as a sealant against debris, cools the engine, reduces wear and tear, and helps prevent engine corrosion. Keep it clean always for prolonged engine life.Change both the oil & oil filter as much as every 6 months or 10,000 kilometers. Check your vehicle owner’s manual and consult with an expert to know what’s needed for your car.

Rotate Tyres

Rotate your tyres to extend the service life of your tyres by evenly balancing the tread wear, thus it prevents noise and vibration problems. Your vehicle alignment must be proper, sometimes the tread wear patterns on your tyres may vary between the front and back tyres so check it regularly.
